About PHAN

PHAN is a non profit incorporated Association of Professional Housekeepers throughout the NSW region. Welcome from PHAN President Chona Ogilvie,

Another year has passed and in spite of the global economic challenges in 2009, PHAN has successfully delivered a number of initiatives and activities. At the beginning of 2009 the inaugural Housekeeping Olympics was attended by over 200 enthusiastic housekeeping staff from 19 participating hotels! Other events during the year included educational workshops, hotel tours, an innovative products workshop, shared best practices, and the fantastic fun day at the Hunter Valley.

As the newly elected President of PHAN, I wish to warmly welcome you all to another year for the Professional Housekeepers’ Association of NSW. This year we will continue to encourage participation from all our members. We will invite members to join our committee meetings, giving them an understanding of how PHAN works, an opportunity to add their ideas and ongoing involvement throughout the year. To increase our standing as an organisation, we will also focus on increasing the membership to enable us to be recognised as a true business partner in the hospitality industry, acknowledging the importance of the Housekeeping Department’s contribution to the success of hospitality in NSW.

Our organisation offers members the great advantage of a combined pool of knowledge from each and every member. Attending functions and workshops is a perfect opportunity to network, share ideas and learn from each other, this also includes our Assistants and Supervisors.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express our thanks to the suppliers. Their ongoing support assists PHAN’s workshops and functions to be even more successful. We look forward to improving this already mutually beneficial continued partnership with them in the future.

Chona Ogilvie
PHAN President
